Applying to the Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Science and Engineering Ph.D. Program at UAH
Background
Of the students accepted this year,the average GRE score was 1950, the average
GPA was 3.4, and recommendations were very positive.

If you haven't had Biochemistry, Genetics and a full year of Calculus as an undergraduate, you should address these deficiencies as soon as possible.
It is possible to take some of the Biotechnology courses without being formally accepted into the program. Students in the masters program in Biological Sciences, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering can take many of the Biotechnology courses. It is also possible to take up to 12 credit hours as an unclassified graduate student.
Application Process
1. Apply to the Graduate School at UAH. Your completed application will have four parts:
- Official GRE score
for all applicants and TOEFL score for international
students
- Official academic transcripts
- The UAH Graduate School Application (Be sure to check the box for the Biotechnology Program)
- The UAH Graduate Assistantship Application
Application forms and other helpful materials are available online from the
UAH Graduate School or on campus at MSB C-206. Call (256) 824-6002 for further help. All parts are due on Jan 15.
2. You will be sent a questionnaire regarding your research experience and interests. Please complete and return the questionnaire. Due February 15.
3. Have three recommendation letters sent to the Biotechnology Admissions Committee. A recommendation form can be downloaded as a PDF file or as a Microsoft Word File. (Hint: Ask permission before listing someone as a reference, and to provide them with the recommendation form, your CV and a copy of your academic transcript. Ask the people who have supervised you and worked closely with you.) Due February 15.
4. Expect to be accepted, rejected or wait-listed by April 1.
5. Acceptances become binding after April 15. For further details see the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS)

6. Acceptances are due May 15 or 30 days from after the date of offer, whichever comes later.
